MANUAL THERAPY

manual therapy“Manual therapy” encompasses a variety of hands-on healing techniques that include chiropractic manipulation, myofascial release, Graston Technique® (instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation), and advanced stretching and joint mobilization techniques. Manual therapy is science-based and utilized by professional athletes, the elderly, and everyone in between. Research validates manual therapy as an effective means of pain management, injury prevention, and performance enhancement. Manual therapy techniques are used by doctors of chiropractic, physical therapists, doctors of osteopathy, massage therapists and more to diagnose and treat joint and soft tissue injuries. Typical goals for manual therapy sessions are: pain reduction, increasing range of motion, reducing soft tissue inflammation, promoting relaxation, improving tissue repair, facilitating movement, and improving function. The type of manual therapy, the region of the body treated, and the length of time spent on treatment will vary considerably from person to person.  We also encourage self manual therapy (SMT) at home utilizing foam rollers, acupressure balls, etc when applicable.
